No. Choosing to publish through an open-access channel does not mean that author lost his copyright. the author can retain copyright on his work and grant the paternity right in all cases.
What are Creative Commons Licences ?
Creative Common Licenses are based on copyright. While the classical rule of copyright encourages you to keep exclusivity on all of your rights (“all rights reserved”), the CC ones enable you to keep only a part (“some rights reserved”). Creative Commons (a non-profit Organisation) is working with experts in copyright all over the world to make these licenses valid regardless of the jurisdiction. These Licenses allow people to use your work under some conditions and according to your preferences.
