The CNUDST is thrilled to announce the launch of a project called “Tunisian DOI Consortuim”, in partnership with DataCite.
The project aims to create and support a sustainable national community that can use DataCite’s open science infrastructure to enhance the visibility and accessibility of their research outputs and resources by registering DOIs (digital object identifiers).
The project also has the following goals for the year 2024:
- encourage Tunisian institutions to adopt DOIs to identify and ensure permanent access to their research outputs;
- raise awareness among the Tunisian community, including librarians, repository managers, researchers, academics, publishers and decision-makers, of the benefits and achievements of open science infrastructure, such as persistent identifiers
- link-local solutions to the PID (persistent identifier) DataCite infrastructure
-
Agenda :
- Bring together national organisations that share the common need to maintain the accessibility and visibility of their publications;
- Prepare the national consortium: this is an essential preliminary step in preparing the consortium for official membership of DataCite (from 2025);
- Allocate and register DOIs, free of charge for 2024, to the digital publications and research outputs of participating organisations;
- Organising events: the organisations that have joined this initiative will be invited to workshops to participate in the development of the consortium’s governance. In addition, training webinars are planned to cover the procedural and technical aspects of DOI assignments.
-
Target:
We strongly invite decision-makers at universities, research structures and non-profit scholar organisations to join the project and express the needs of their structures in terms of the visibility of their scientific productions using persistent PID identifiers, especially DOIs.
